1929 Jamieson Parker Estate in Milwaukie Sells for $1.649M
A 1929 Jamieson Parker Estate in Milwaukie Finds Its Next Stewards
Few homes in the Portland area have a story like 15115 SE Woodland Way. Designed in 1929 by architect Jamieson Parker and set on 2.89 acres in Milwaukie, the estate came on the market March 30, 2026, listed by Neighbors agent Jimi Hendrix. It drew a fast offer and sold for $1,649,000. Along the way it was featured by Portland Monthly and twice by The Oregonian, which compared its rose garden to something out of a Jane Austen novel.
The architect
Jamieson Parker’s career lasted only about a decade before the Great Depression cut it short, but his work still shapes Portland. He apprenticed under A. E. Doyle, did the limestone lettering on the Central Library, and designed the First Unitarian Church of Portland and the Parish of St. Mark. Seven of his homes are on the National Register of Historic Places.
The grounds
A wrought iron gate and circular drive lead to a formal rose garden planted for the home’s first owners almost a century ago, framed by weathered brick walls. The original brick tea house still stands, and there’s a studio with a full bath above the detached garage.
The house
At 6,207 square feet, with 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, the home keeps much of its original craftsmanship:
Original wide-plank, top-nailed teak floors
Three of the four original fireplaces
Floor-to-ceiling living room bookshelves and an arched leaded-glass window
A dining room with dark wood paneling, built-ins, a brick hearth, rondel windows and French doors to the garden
A kitchen and butler’s pantry with plum cabinets and terra-cotta tile
A primary suite with a sitting area, and a bath with mosaic tile floors, a custom red oak vanity and a dressing alcove hidden behind an arched mirror
Three of the four en-suite baths were remodeled by Canopy Builds, so the house has been beautifully upgraded for modern comforts without losing its 1929 character.
Why it sold
Historic estates with this much land are rare inside the Portland metro. Buyers got an architecturally significant home that’s been cared for, plus nearly three acres of established gardens, just minutes from the city.
